"A Winning Combination: Widener Woman And D Phi E"
The Start Of Sisterhood...
In 1979, after separating from the Zeta Beta Tau littles, a group of girls held together to pass on the sisterhood that had become a part of life. As they returned in the fall semester, the women went straight to work to establish themselves as a local sorority which became Alpha Omega.
After researching different sororities, they narrowed it down and invited the ones that brought interest to visit the school. On December 16, 1979, the Phi Pi chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon was officially at Widener University.
As spring approached, the girls came through with 20 new pledges. The sisters and pledges worked along side each other as they learned all they could about D Phi E. That February, they sold carnations as a Valentine's Day fundraiser. They raised over $700.00 towards Cystic Fibrosis with a volleyball marathon and also raised money in March for the Juvenile Diabetes foundation. In their first Greek week, the sisters took first place and D Phi E was officially a part of the Widener experience.
